Poigod is a literary magazine with an inclusive ethos. Right now, Poigod has a small team that is passionate about presenting artful and thoughtful material. In mid-December I will print as well as host online the first issue.
The name Poigod follows the alliteration of the word 'agog'-- meaning brimming with enthusiastic excitement. Another aspect of the ethos of the magazine. 'Agog' is not a very beautiful word, so I manipulated the word until I came up with a word that followed its alliteration, but looked and sounded more lovely.
The portion of the call for submissions that includes pornography and erotica is not meant as a joke. I wrote another blog post to clarify about this, but the reason for their inclusion is that we treat all artful media equally. We will publish media that exhibits thought, purpose, art, responsibility, ethics, taste, originality, and creativity, and we reserve the right to deny any piece for any reason. There is a chance that the magazine may be offensive for some, and I regret this. But, it is a sacrifice I am willing to make, as I believe that erotic media is capable of being tasteful and valuable and I want to create a magazine that does not fear that. I assure you that if the magazine does contain material that some may find offensive, the editors will handle it responsibly. We have no interest in offending for offense sake. The overall direction of the magazine is not based on erotic material.
Each accepted contributor will receive two issues of the magazine. Copies will be mailed out after printing. To buy a single issue we ask for a donation of $2 to $5. Poigod is the work of volunteers, and funding is limited. Printing is expensive, but if someone would like an issue and cannot pay we will still try to get them a copy.

Submission Guidelines Clarified
The portion of the call for submissions that calls for erotica and pornography has gotten a lot of attention. Allow me to clarify about this:
These are not intended as a means of shocking or grabbing attention or a means of alienating. These are optional media that will be treated equally with all other media options. They are certainly not the only options, the same as poetry or non-fiction are not the only options. But, they are welcome. They are welcome because I intend this magazine to have an ethos of inclusion. The magazine was created as sort of a reaction to Fugue, the established literary magazine on the University of Idaho campus (Poigod is not affiliated with or supported by the U of I), which excludes undergraduate submissions. I felt that there needed to be a magazine where undergrads were included-- this became an overall theme behind the founding of the magazine. Everyone, even beyond the University of Idaho, is invited to submit content, and all varieties of publishable media will be treated equally-- just like all submitters will be treated equally.
That being said, the equal treatment all media and pieces will receive is blind review and editorial critique. The editors of the magazine look for and expect purpose, thought, statement, style, taste, responsibility, ethics, creativity, originality, and more from all pieces and reserve the right to deny any piece for any reason.
I understand that people may be concerned about their fine poem being published next to a smutty photo. I want to assure you that we're not interested in pieces that are solely smut, but rather are tasteful, artful, thoughtful, and purposeful art that may be erotic. Erotic media can be artful, and I think it only responsible and intelligent to face that.
I'm open to questions and discussion about this. Feel free to email me about anything at poigodmagazine@gmail.com .
Thanks,
Emily from Poigod

Call for Submissions
Poigod needs content.
Send creative submissions for possible publication in December's issue of Poigod. All mediums capable of publication are encouraged. Essays, articles, poetry, recipes, erotica, photographs, flash fiction, short stories, lyrical pieces, pornography, comics, schematics, drawings, paintings, non-fiction, and so on, are accepted and appreciated.
Send content files via email to:
poigodmagazine@gmail.com
or manuscripts via postal service to:
The Editors at Poigod Literary Magazine
110 S. Almon Street Apt. #312
Moscow, Idaho 83843
Pieces submitted must have no mention of your identity (exceptions would be if your identity is an integral part of the piece-- i.e. a personal essay), so that the editors can make a blind decision based on the merit of the piece.
With your piece must be a cover letter to the editors that includes your name, address, and email address.
The deadline for submissions is Friday, November 26th, 2010. The day after Thanksgiving.
After all submissions have been received and read we will notify contributors of acceptance or rejection.
Everyone is welcome to submit, and more than one piece is also welcome. Pieces must be no longer than 20 pages.
Again, submission deadline is November 26, 2010. Poigod will be published in early to mid December.
